Welcome to Devon’s boutique, ethical cookery school

Have you met us yet? We thought it was about time for a little reintroduction to Devon Cookery School, and to say a proper hello to new members of our wonderful community. This is a great opportunity to show you around our gorgeous school so you can get a feel for what to expect when you sign up to one of our growing number of cookery classes.

Devon Cookery School was formed in 2020 after Chef Jazzi took the chance to bring to life her own vision of the taught cooking experience - and what an experience it is! Cooking is central to our lives, health, wellbeing and even communities - it should always be fun and never a chore. Using local produce and meats, Jazzi focuses on empowering the local communities our students live in, engaging you in hands-on experiences made for learning, and for laughs.

Jazzi is professionally trained with experience at Jamie Oliver’s Cookery School in London, and Exeter Cookery School. She brings a totally unique and energising approach to our classes, as well as passion and warmth (and genuine belly laughs) to each workshop.

Our kitchen is a purpose built boutique cookery school perfectly equipped for cosy classes of 6 people, plus chef Jazzi, and kitchen assistant Bobbi. Another integral member of the team is Dane, our main man behind the scenes who runs the office, website and also provides all our photography. You may even catch him in the kitchen every now and then!

We're located on Pipers Farm - a small scale mixed farm dedicated to sustainable, ethical farming. Set on this unique rural venue, learning with Devon Cookery School is time away from the world. Where the internet is patchy, the inspiration is overflowing. Have your tea break overlooking miles of rolling Devon countryside where you might even catch sight of curious wild deer. Surrounded by peace and quiet, you can immerse yourself fully in your cookery experience, and return home refreshed.

Our classes, events and products are always the highest quality; designed to have lasting impact and bring joy for a long time to come. It goes beyond being able to fillet a fish, rustle up a Mexican feast, or magic a Japanese menu, and becomes a matter of making memories, developing confidence in a new skill, or the deepening of a friendship.

Here at Devon Cookery School we strip down the barriers between our students and professional cookery skills - not a stainless steel worktop or chef white in sight. It’s all about getting stuck in, having a laugh and learning from the silly things so anyone can take away an amazing culinary skill.

This is because you, our community, are the heart of Devon Cookery School. From producers and suppliers to every special student, it’s all about true connections. We are a cooking family that cares about its people, and about our wider environment, using local and seasonal produce, with an emphasis on the importance of sustainable and regenerative farming

Our cooking classes are made to be shared with family and friends - and to make new ones! Everyone is welcome and made to feel able to nail world-class world-wide recipes in a range of half or full day courses to suit your availability.

Perfect for presents, shared memories, and powering up your own skills, a class with Devon Cookery School is an investment you’ll love putting to good use not just to impress mates, but whenever you fancy restaurant quality food at home.

So what can you expect from a class with Devon Cookery School? To start, you can choose from a half or full day course. Our onsite parking means there’s no hassle on arriving, and you can start your day slowly with a cup of tea and a chat in our kitchen. Jazzi will begin with an introduction to the class and an outline of your day. All your ingredients and equipment will be set up for you, with individual cooking stations so you can focus on what you’re making without a Mad Max battle for the colander!

Jazzi will guide you through a series of practical cooking, learning techniques, skills and full recipes. Whether you’ve joined us for a half day or full day, you will be able to eat some of what you make for lunch with us, and take the rest home. All our classes are at a relaxed pace, focusing on enjoying the experience from start to finish while getting to know your fellow students. During your break you will also have an opportunity to explore our part of Pipers Farm, and even go and say hello to the resident piggies! They are always a firm favourite with our students.

And then, at the end of your class with us, you’ll receive a Devon Cookery School certificate to commemorate your culinary adventure with us! We also love for our students to let us know how they’ve got on making their new recipes at home. Tag us in your social media pictures, send us emails or comments - once a student at DCS you’re part of the community for good!
